Nominations open for the 2026 David Thomlinson Lifetime Achievement Award
Nominations are now open for the 2026 David Thomlinson Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognises an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, achievement and generosity within the livestock farming industry.
Presented annually at Borderway Agri Expo, the award was established in 2021 in memory of respected auctioneer, farmer and Limousin breeder David Thomlinson, who dedicated 40 years of his professional life to Harrison & Hetherington.
David was a passionate advocate for British agriculture and was widely respected not only for his knowledge and accomplishments, but also for his kindness, sportsmanship and willingness to help and mentor others.
The award celebrates an individual who reflects those same qualities: a passionate livestock farmer, an exemplary role model and someone whose dedication has made a lasting contribution to the agricultural community.
Laura Millar, Director and Head of Operations at Harrison & Hetherington and Borderway Agri Expo Event Organiser, said, “Every area of farming has those individuals who quietly dedicate their lives to driving the sector forward, mentoring and helping others around them. This award gives us an opportunity to recognise these individuals, whose passion, generosity and commitment have made a lasting legacy specifically to livestock farming.
“We are looking for someone who reflects the qualities David Thomlinson embodied throughout his life: a respected role model, always willing to share their knowledge and offer support. I would encourage anyone who knows such an individual to put their name forward.”
The 2025 award was presented to noted Dumfriesshire farmer and pedigree breeder James “Jim” Goldie, recognising his lifelong dedication to the livestock sector and his commitment to encouraging and supporting future generations.
Nominations are invited from across the livestock industry. Those putting forward a nominee are asked to provide details of:
- Background and achievements within the livestock industry
- Contribution to agriculture
- The qualities that make them a deserving recipient of the award
The winner must be available to attend Borderway Agri Expo, although they will not be told in advance that they have been nominated. Arrangements will be made confidentially with the person submitting the nomination.
The 2026 David Thomlinson Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at Borderway Agri Expo on Friday, 30th October 2026.
