2 WEEKS TO GO!

Hello everyone

Borderway Agri Expo: More Than a Livestock Show

With just over two weeks to go until Borderway Agri Expo, excitement is building and preparations are well under way. There’s plenty to look forward to in the livestock rings, but Agri Expo is also an important day for doing business and hearing from experts about the issues affecting farming. This year is certainly no exception!

We’re delighted to welcome back so many individual trade stands representing sectors from across the industry. Alongside the livestock competitions, our trade show is a chance to meet suppliers, explore new products and services, and discuss plans for your business. Do make time for a look around – there will be plenty to see and people to talk to.

At our Chairman’s Breakfast on the H+H stand, Brian Richardson, Head of Agriculture at Virgin Money, will share his views on the economic outlook, the trends he is seeing and what these could mean for future planning.

We’re very pleased to host what we believe will be the first mayoral hustings held in a livestock auction mart – the Cumbria Mayoral Hustings.

Taking place in the Seminar Ring at 10.15AM, the hustings will bring together Cumbria’s four mayoral candidates to face questions from the county’s farming, rural and business communities. It’s an opportunity to hear their priorities and put the issues that matter to you directly to those seeking to represent Cumbria.

Our afternoon seminar at 1.30PM promises an in-depth discussion about the future of The Future of British Beef and Sheep Farming.

Phil Stocker, Chief Executive of the National Sheep Association, and Robert Martin, National Chair of the Tenant Farmers Association, will examine whether the greatest pressures come from imports or closer to home, and what this means for UK food security.

With so much affecting livestock businesses, this should be a thought-provoking discussion and an important part of the day.

This week also marks a major milestone for our business with the launch of One H+H, bringing our three businesses and seven areas of expertise closer together to support farmers, landowners and rural businesses. Harrison & Hetherington, H&H Land & Estates and H&H Insurance Brokers are already well known in their own fields. One H+H makes the full breadth of that expertise easier to access, building on more than 150 years in agriculture while preserving the local knowledge and personal service our customers value.

Someone who knows us through livestock may not realise we can also help with land, insurance or financial planning. Our specialist teams will all be at Agri Expo, so please come and have a conversation about how we can help.

Alongside a new visual identity and website, hhrural.co.uk , you’ll hear more about Rural Matters – our belief in, and commitment to, the future of the rural economy.

Thank you, as always, to our mainline sponsors, Carrs Billington, Cogent, and Lloyds Bank, for their continued support.

We look forward to welcoming you to Borderway!
